Tyler Fall Prayer Update

Dear Prayer Partners,
In 28 years of ministry, we have never been as busy as we have been these last few months! During this time we have had 4 camp weeks, a 3-week tour with the Gillespie family who came to help us promote the start of The Biblical College International which began at the first of October. Debra and I are both involved with teaching and administration, so we spend 3 days a week at the college. Meanwhile, there has been much detail work almost on a daily basis to finish the house for our Romanian pastor and his family. Praise the Lord, they were able to move in at the end of October and are enjoying the comfort of a warm and efficient home.
I state all these things at the beginning because I want to assure you that the only reason you have not heard from us in recent weeks is because we are busy in the Master's work, and your prayers and faithful support have kept us going. There have been some major challenges, especially financially; however, we have seen God's provision and blessing of our faith.
Now we are in our Missions Month and are busy prepairing for our first Spiritual Leadership Conference - Eastern Europe with our pastor, Dr. Paul Chappell and Brother Jerry Ferrso from Lancaster Baptist Church, as well as Pastor Stephen Chappell from Oceanside, CA. They, along with their wives, will be with us for several days in December and there are already over 50 who have made reservation to stay in our College facilities. I expect that there will be many others who will come and this will be the biggest event in the history of our church in Timisoara! If you know someone in Europe who might like to attend, please send them to the SLC-EE website: https://sites.google.com/a/bbit.ro/slc/ .
Please pray with us for a van for the ministry. My 8-passenger van quit on us a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like it will cost a couple thousand dollars to repair. We have used it for several years for transporting people to and from church as well as for camp and any other activities, and it has served as a second vehicle for us (which is needed). Pray specifially that we would be able to get one with an automatic transmission, so that Dan, who lost his left leg in the Romanian Revolution of 1989, can once again drive for the Lord. He and his family spent 3 months in California this year and experienced the blessing when he and his family were picked up every week by Bus #3 of North Valley Baptist Church. THANK-YOU, PASTOR TRIEBER AND BUS 3 WORKERS! He came back really fired up to get our own "Bus Ministry" going. He uses his own little Toyota to bring others to every service; so such a van would be an answer to prayer for the ministry.
In addition to all the activity and preparations, there is a heavy burden on my mind regarding the first annual payment for our church property that is less than 6 months away. I feel a heavy responsibility to meet this need; yet it is the Lord Who can provide. I have considered many options, but have not yet found a financing solution to meet such a large obligation. Please pray for wisdom and strength.

NEW Tyler Prayer Update
PRAISE THE LORD! A 52-year-old man trusted Christ as Saviour following the Sunday morning Service, and he has come 2 days in a row to help with our construction project and just found out that he starts work at a new job tomorrow (after several weeks without employment). GOD IS GOOD!

Dear Prayer Partners,
We just arrived back home from the airport Budapest, Hungary, after sending a ten-person construction team back to Valley Forge Baptist Temple in Pennsylvania. Today also marks one month since the arrival of the first team of 6 adults on the Canadian BIMI CLAIM team. What a busy month, and even more...WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE. Only He could coordinate finances, personnel, weather and materials to accomplish so much!
Several of our Romanian church members worked side by side with the CLAIM team, led by Phillip and Susan Smith, to do the initial plumbing, put in a new fence and to install a heated concrete floor. Unfortunately, Bro. Phillip got some bad chemical burns on both knees from the cement, and was relegated to supervisor as the rest of the crew also built the ceiling structure for drywall on the ground floor.
Like a well-planned project (and so it was in God's mind), the second crew from Valley Forge were able to continue the work by continuing the drywall and plumbing installation, running the electrical lines and even building the staircase!
Both groups were such a blessing to our church and their testimonies really impacted our people. They were so generous with their talents and brought "hard-to-get" items for us to enjoy! The CLAIM workers also brought a couple of duffle bags full of craft and Sunday School items for our children's ministry. We'll never forget the labor of love demonstrated by these wonderful volunteers! Their work saved us literally thousands of dollars. The way the Lord also provided funds for materials is equally amazing! Please continue to pray for funds to finish the building and for the first BIG payment on the purchase of the property that we have due next Spring.
NEW GOSPEL TRACTS
We met our goal of distributing 5,000 "Christ is risen!" tracts in 5 weeks and have now printed 10,000 new tracts with the theme: "LIFE - under construction". (We have building on the brain, I think!)
CAMP SEASON
We are gearing up for another great camp year and our church from Timisoara is sending workers and campers each week in July. Please pray for several who struggle to come up with the $60 camper fee, but we are trying to help them earn it by helping at the church and other places. Both Bethany and Camy will be working at camp this summer, along with Angi who will help with counseling. It is so great to see our youth becoming laborers for the Lord!
10 YEARS IN ROMANIA!
We remember so well our arrival to Romania in the month of June, 2003. Ed and Carole Hembree met us at the airport in Timisoara and helped us get settled in for the adventure that continues today. We are reminded that we could not have been effective here without your faithful support and prayers! Our heart's desire is for even greater things to be accomplished for the Lord's glory in the years to come as we labour together for souls in Romania and Eastern Europe.

Monday Memo Praise!
Dear Prayer Partners,
We left our home this morning with much anticipation (and some nervousness) to go to Timisoara for the signing of the contract for the purchase of our church property. Two years ago we met the owner for the first time and proposed a lease/purchase plan, but it has taken until now for the deed to be un-incumbered of other interested parties and for us to be fully prepared to face this financial challenge by faith and commitment.
I am happy to share that we returned home 12 hours later with a signed contract that gives our ministry ownership of the property with a payment plan over the next 4 years. The property is on a main thoroughfare in the city, so the price is significant. We have prayed earnestly and God provided the down payment and other clear signs of His direction; so now we trust Him by faith to provide the needed funds. Our first payment will be 55,000 euros in one year. Please pray with us as we chip away at this goal monthly.
I am literally exhausted after 2 intense weeks of running from one governmental agency to another in preparation for this contract. It is such a relief to be able to now go forward with everything in order legally. Over the next couple of months, we will be also working on the building with 2 different crews coming from Canada and the USA. Pray for materials and wisdom to complete this project, as well.

Tyler Prayer Letter - Mar.-Apr. 2013

Dear Prayer Partners,
We are so grateful to the Lord for how He continues to bless and we want to thank you for praying for our needs and projects.
UPDATE: Building Project
Sufficient funds were given through several generous gifts so that we were able to get the roof on the building that will later become the home for our Romanian pastor and his family.
There are two teams of builders coming during the next 2 months to work on the interior; so we are making preparations as funds come in. There have been also several legal steps that will hopefully be completed soon.
Next week we will be finalizing the transfer of the entire property to our ministry for our church in Timisoara. The owner accepted our offer to pay 4 equal annual payments with a down payment of 10,000 Euros. God provide that exact amount from a supporting church in California before we even mentioned the need. We had only shared it with my parents and our pastor, but felt we needed to wait on the Lord—and He came through right on time once again! Please pray for the legal process to go smoothly and for the funds needed for the taxes and fees (which we just found out could be several thousand dollars). God will provide!
An Evening in Paris
The annual sweetheart banquet was well attended as we transformed the church auditorium to a French cafe. Our adolescents served a wonderful meal, and their leaders, the Todorans, provided hilarious entertainment. There were 6 first time visitors and several who had been only a few times before. One of the new couples has also visited our church services since then.
CHRIST IS RISEN! - tract distribution challenge
Easter may have passed in the USA already, but here in Romania the Orthodox church doesn't celebrate Easter until May 5th. So we decided to utilize the 5 weeks between to distribute 5,000 tracts sharing the wonderful truth that "Christ is risen!" So far, our people have given out over 3,000 in our area, as well as to friends and co-workers. We are praying that the Gospel will open the eyes of so many blinded by religion.
FAMILY NEWS
Darci and Derrick, along with the 2 most adorable little boys in the world (personal bias), have recently moved to Connecticut to work with Pastor Cary Schmidt. God just provided them a "miracle" house just minutes from the church. John and Pearl are busy as ever at Lancaster Baptist Church and West Coast Baptist College, and were able to go to Korea together during Spring Break. Rebekah and Travis are still in Russelville, AR, and Travis just got hired on to the police department. Bethany is taking German and Equestrian training, and also teaching piano to children in our church while developing her own skills as our church pianist. Camy has become a Betty Crocker with a "green thumb"—when she isn't baking, she's planting flowers! Please remember Debra at this time for it was just a year ago this week when her father passed away. (debra@tylero.org)

Thankful to be Thankful
Thankful to be Thankful

We should be thankful to be thankful
On this Thanksgiving Day-
We have reason to sing praises,
We are headed Heaven's Way!
There are many in this darkened world
Who cannot feel the same-
They cannot sing and praise their Lord-
Some don't even know His name!
They have never met the Shepherd
Who dearly died on their behalf,
Who longs to comfort them and guide them
With His righteous rod and staff.
Some are so cruelly shackled
By life's problems and its pains,
And unaware that there's a Saviour
Who wants to break their chains.
Some, though, there are who've heard of Him
The salvation He imparts,
But still hesitate to ask Him
To come into their hearts-
With lives of deep confusion,
They try to handle life alone,
And never, ever seek and find
The peace He gives His own.
They face the darkest future
Without salvation's light,
Not turning to the One
Who gives Sin-blinded men their sight.
Along with God's great blessings to us,
There's a duty we've been shown-
To reach out to all His wandering sheep,
And let His name be known.
May we, the saved, be thankful
That we can thankful be,
And pray that all these unsaved souls
Can someday praise like we!

Summer Update

Dear Prayer Partners,
"… the summer is ended, and we are not saved." Jeremiah 8:20 This simply means we have much more to do for the Lord!
We have had a very busy summer which began with some special meetings and VBS. Over 90 children attended during the exciting 3-day program put on with the help of 20 teens and adults from Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX. We saw several return to participate in our weekly Sunday School classes. We also had children at each of the 4 weeks of summer camp, and several of them would not have been able to attend without help financially. So we gave them some projects at the church like painting and cleaning; so they would appreciate the opportunity even more. The cost each week just for fuel was about $200 (at about $6.60/gallon).
During the month of August, we had some 15 visitors in our services. We are following up on them and praying for souls to be saved. We distribute an average of 600-1000 tracts a week, and we trust that our obedience is receiving God's blessings.
Ioana, our assistant pastor's wife, has finished a 3 week program at a health clinic and her tests show no cancer and she feels better than she has in years. They have been a faithful and encouraging testimony for the Lord through their trials. Tabita continues to make slow, but promising, progress. It will be a year in October from when she was hit in the head by a car. The doctors still talk of her as the miracle girl, and today her mother told me that the city will put protected crosswalks at the place near her school where she was injured.
Our minivan finally gave up the ghost when the engine blew, and we need to sell our passenger van and try to replace it with a more reliable vehicle for transporting people for church. If you would please pray that we can find a van with automatic transmission, then Bro. Dan, who lost a leg during the Romanian Revolution of 1989, would be able to continue driving people to and from church.
Besides the increasing fuel costs that we face when the weather turns colder, we have several specific needs for which we ask for your prayers:
1. A new over-head garage door for the vehicle entrance at the church - $1100-1200 installed
2. Carpet for the children's classrooms – approx. $600
3. Thermal-pane doors to replace the French doors that divide 2 of the classes (this with the carpet is needed to block the noise between groups) – approx. $1000
4. Thermal-pane windows to help reduce our gas bill – about $300 each X 5
5. Fencing around the back of the property - $200
6. A BIG project is to finish the building that would provide housing for our Romanian pastor's family as well as provide extra classroom space. We have volunteers who have offered to do the work, but the materials need to be purchased first. Just to get the roof on the walls that exist will cost about $10,000. Other materials to finish the interior and exterior will be available when we receive the estimate from the architect.
Perhaps one of these projects would be of interest for a mission, class or personal funding project. We would like to hear from you and will also give updates as needs are met. To God be all the glory!

Beautiful Romania!
We arrived home after about 15 hours of travel through some of the most amazing scenery here in Romania. This 90 km road was originally built during communist times under Nicolae Ceaucescu. Whether intended to or not, it continues to give the people a first-hand view of GOD'S CONSTRUCTION! :-)

Overdue Update

Dear Prayer Partners,
Before I share the blessings and trials we have experienced here in Romania, I must ask your forgiveness for the lack of communication so far this year. While I have shared a few updates via e-mail, the last official letter was in January and the last e-mail was regarding the passing of Deb's father in April. I realize that I am responsible and accountable for the ministry God has entrusted to me, both to the Lord and to those who have partnered with us in prayer and financial support. I recall that during my time as pastor in the States, the lack of communication from a missionary might be viewed by our people as a lack of appreciation for support or something worse. I fear that you may be thinking the same, but I want to assure you that we have been very busy and have had circumstances that hindered me from writing (such as computer crashes 3 times, a continuing building project, death in the family and vehicle problems). It seemed like every time I would plan to make time to sit down and formulate a prayer letter, something major would happen or a big event or project would require my attention.
At this point you are probably thinking, "This guy is just making excuses!" I HAVE NO EXCUSES, rather I acknowledge that I should have made time for even brief updates on a regular basis. I accept all the responsibility and sincerely ask your forgiveness for neglecting this important aspect of our relationship (i.e., communication).
After such a busy fall working on the remodel of our new building, I am sure all were expecting to hear also about the way God would work in our ministry. Please allow me to share the highlights so far this year...
After returning from John and Pearl's wedding in January, we thrilled that were able to purchase 100 chairs for our church through the help of the Christian School at Valley forge Baptist Temple. We currently use 60 of them in our sanctuary weekly, and on one occasion had to set up almost 80.
On February 19th, we baptized Florin that was saved in January after nearly cutting off his right hand with a flex rotary grinder. Two teen boys, Asmir and Alin (who were saved at camp last summer), were also baptized on that day. They all continue to be faithful, but Alin has moved to the village to live with his grandparents and cannot make it every week.
In March, I preached the mission conference at the Gospel Light Independent Baptist Church in Cluj Napoca. The next week we had a "Wild West" theme for our Sweetheat banquet and ate BBQ sandwiches, baked beans and all the fixin's, and there were 8 visitors who came at the invitation of our people.
In April, we celebrated the Lord's Resurrection and had 10 visitors on Easter. We took Sarah Helwig on a tour of castles and ancient cities in Romania and later enjoyed her piano and violin students when they gave a final recital at the church. Sadly, Sarah has left us to return to the States and to a new ministry in Wyoming. She is missed very much, but the fruit of her labors is continually seen in our weekly services.
The month following is a blur... Deb left to be with her dad during his final days, and the Lord gave her (and all the family present) the privilege of seeing him gather strength to get out of bed and sit in a chair as he said "I love you" to each one. He then got back in bed, went to sleep and woke up in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. I also arrived there later that same evening to console my wife and to help in the memorial serives. Deb stayed on for a couple of more weeks to help her mother and later to visit other family, both to comfort and to be comforted. It is still very difficult for her, especially on special days. Please continue to pray for her.
From June 17 until last Sunday, July 8, we have had several visiting preachers and a wonderful group of teens from Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo. During this time we had the BIMI European field conference, combined with a special conference for the promoting of the Bible College, which will re-open next year. When the 20 teens and adults arrived from Texas, we put them to work passing out tracts and invitations for our VBS, which took place July 2-4 with a high attendance of 77 and nearly 100 different children enrolled. Last Sunday, many of the new children came to church, along with their parents or grandparents.
Each month during the first half of this year we have held our Christian Children's Club and have gone out door-knocking and distributed an average of 500 tracts weekly. As a result, we have had a good number of adult visitors in our services and new children in our Sunday School.
We continue to work on the building and today painted the front and driveway walls of the building which had been prepped by the Texas team last week. We checked on installing air conditioning, but the cost is about twice as much as funds will allow. We need to do something soon since temperatures and humidity are already too high to be able to stay long in the auditorium.
Ioana and Cosmin, our assistant pastor, are at a health clinic for 2 weeks for treatment of her thyroid which has some suspicious spots. She is trying to eat healthy, but her symptoms take a toll on her. Please pray for her complete recovery.
Our family is well...just really tired. Bethany is playing the piano for services and specials now, and will be serving for 3 weeks at the Christian camp where we take youth from our church. We have some who would like to go, but don't have the finances; so we are looking for sponsors to help, while we encourage them to do practical things at the church and for families to earn some money.

UPDATE Bereavement prayers
April 29, 2012
Dear Prayer Partners,
I wanted to let you know that my wife's father passed away quietly on Wednesday evening at 7 pm Pacific Time. I arrived later that night from Europe and the days have been very busy since. The memorial service was held at Faith Baptist Church in Grants Pass, OR, and both Dad Brown's testimony and Pastor Burman's message gave a powerful witness to God's power in the life of a man who loves Him. The burial will take place Monday morning, June 30th, at 11 am at the Eagle Point Veterans Cemetary with full honors for his service during World War II. He was 88 years old.
Your continued prayers for us are greatly appreciated. I will return to Romania next Saturday and Deb will return after assuring that her mother has everything settled.
We are grateful for the messages of encouragement, flowers and financial gifts that have been sent. We can feel your prayers!

2010 Tyler Christmas Praises
Dear Prayer Partners,
First of all, we want to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a BLESSED NEW YEAR!
Speaking of the new year, it gives us occasion to recall some of the many blessings of the present one…
January 2010 – Our church in Timisoara hosted our 5th annual Church Planters Conference with Bro. Rick Houk and 77 in attendance (about half of them national pastors and missionaries in Romania)
February 2010 – The teens of our church put on a Sweetheart Banquet for the adults in our church with the theme, “An evening in Venice”.
March 2010 – Bro. Gabriel Rivera preached a family conference for us. Zoli, the husband of one of our faithful ladies, was also saved during this month.
April 2010 – Rebekah got engaged to Travis Garza with our blessing. Zoli was baptized (he also brought 10 visitors to see it) and began discipleship lessons.
May 2010 – Reprinted 10,000 copies of the “Done” book in Romanian. Rebekah arrived to help us for the summer.
June 2010 – Pastor Troy Dorrell and 28 adults and teens from Eastland Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK, came for an unforgetable 10 days in which thousands of tracts and Done books were distributed, special services were held in Romanian and Gypsy churches and whirlwind siteseeing tours were conducted of Roman ruins, medieval castles and Budapest landmarks. (GREAT FUN! But I think we slept a week afterwards.)
July 2010 – VBS was held earlier than usual, but had great results and the help of 2 girls from West Coast Baptist College – Sarah Cook and Rebecca Furlong. John came home for 2 weeks at the end of the month and we made a wonderful family trip to Rome.
August 2010 – Our church sent 25 children to Camp of Joy (divided into 3 age-appropriate weeks). During this time Debra was Stateside for the birth of our first grandchild on August 12, 2010: Titus Evan Williams. She and Rebekah were present for the event, and I was on the phone with them to hear the cries of a newborn miracle. AWESOME!
September 2010 – Debra returned with Sarah Helwig, a 2010 Masters graduate of WCBC, who came to work with us for a year-and-a-half or more. Praise the Lord for her musical talents and servant spirit.
October 2010 – John asked Pearl Choi to marry him. Dr. W.A. Smith from Oklahoma City, OK, was our guest speaker for the 5th anniversary of the Timisoara Independent Baptist Church.
November 2010 – I preached at 2 mission conferences in Hungary, and our church held our “By Grace” Mission Conference.
December 2010 – Here we are, ready for special Christmas concerts and making plans for 2011!

October 2010 – John asked Pearl Choi to marry him. Dr. W.A. Smith from Oklahoma City, OK, was our guest speaker for the 5th anniversary of the Timisoara Independent Baptist Church.
November 2010 – I preached at 2 mission conferences in Hungary, and our church held our “By Grace” Mission Conference.
December 2010 – Here we are, ready for special Christmas concerts and making plans for 2011!

Because You Gave

We worked today.
Ordinary jobs were accomplished because of you.
We composed lessons and letters on a computer you bought for us.
Necessary errands were run in a dependable vehicle you purchased.
Our children were schooled from books you paid for.
We have lights, water and a home
Because you gave.
We relaxed today.
An outing you provided refreshed our family.
We turned aside from the routine and enjoyed a meal out.
Thank you.
We laughed and played together and had a restful time
Because you gave.
We worshipped today.
Your sacrifice paid for believers to travel to church.
They gathered in a building that you rented and remodeled.
They read from the Bibles you bought
And sat in chairs you donated so they might hear God's Word.
They praised their Savior from songbooks in their native tongue
Because you gave.
Someone was saved today.
You stood with us as we proclaimed to him the everlasting gospel.
A disciple whom you helped us train led him to Jesus.
He will follow his Lord in a baptismal that you helped purchase.
He will grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ
And his life will be forever changed
Because you gave.
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
